Artist, Teacher, Author
Midpoint in my art career I developed a painting process to help navigate obstacles in my life that kept me from moving forward and making positive changes.
The practice I created - painting in a journal from an uncensored place - taught me to transform blocked energy into something rich, surprising and ultimately informative. I began to notice how I made decisions and dealt with feelings.
The ensuing journey stretched flexibility and fostered room to reach beyond old limitations. I began to shape a life not born out of old fears and habits. Wishing to share this approach with those who might be struggling as I was, I began by offering classes at the C.G. Jung Foundation in Manhattan (2001 through to 2015.) Writing and publishing my book, Painting Your Way Out of a Corner was the next step.
I live and teach near Buzzards Bay in beautiful southern Massachusetts. I’m currently working on a new book about the painting journal process, reframed and deepened due to the enormity of the COVID-19 pandemic experiences of loss, disillusionment, and fear.
These lessons offer an incredible paradigm for how we may navigate any uncertainty with grace, courage, and even humor.
I wrote about my own painting journey during this period of isolation, published in the Jung Journal, “Sheltering In Place - Painting My Way Through COVID.”
